Our photographic adventure starts in Valparaiso. Built on 45 hills, Valparaiso is a Unesco World Heritage site. Our local guide will take us to beautiful vantage points where you will be able to capture great photographs of this colorful and chaotic city.
After two days along the Pacific Ocean we will transfer to a completely different environment and you will wonder whether you are still on the same planet.
During the next 10 days you will witness awe-inspiring landscape as we travel from the highest and driest desert on earth, The Atacama, to one of the world’s most spectacular sights, The Uyuni Salt Flats.

Day 1

Arrival in Santiago during the morning and transfer to our hotel in Valparaiso. Lunch and meeting in the afternoon with our local guide. We will walk mostly on Cerro Alegre and Cerro Conception, the two hills with the most spectacular views over the city. We will photograph the sunset from the beautiful Mirador Paseo 21st of Mayo, where you will capture the most iconic view of the city.

Day 2

After a sunrise shot of Cerro Alegre, we head back to the hotel for breakfast. During the day we will visit the surrounding hills and capture the diversity of Valparaiso’s architecture. Our guide will bring us to one of his favorite restaurants for lunch where the most courageous can experience the “Terremoto”, a local alcoholic beverage. During the afternoon we will visit different vantage points when the light will be perfect for nice cityscapes, ending the day capturing the enchanting hills while the city starts to glow.

Day 3

Transfer day. After breakfast, pick-up at the hotel and transfer to Santiago for our flight to Calama. The flight will take a little more than 2 hours after what we will be taken to our hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Lunch in San Pedro and some free time in the afternoon to visit the village.
Sunset excursion in the Valley of the Moon to capture amazing landscape comprised of orange-red stone outcrops, desert sands, dried river beds and white salt crusts.

Day 4

Early wake up as our guide takes us today to Rainbow valley where you will photograph spectacular and colorful rock formations. We will spend the morning hiking in this incredible environment. Breakfast en route.
We will then head back to San Pedro for lunch and for our next excursion : sunset shot in Death Valley.

Day 5

Today, we will photograph the sunrise over Kari Valley, near the famous Piedra del Coyote site and head back to the hotel for breakfast and some rest time
After having lunch in San Pedro, we will depart for the afternoon visit of Miscanti and Miniques Lagunes that sit at 4800m and head to Piedra Rojas for sunset shots. These locations are quite far from San Pedro, so we will have a simple dinner en route while heading back to the hotel.

Day 6

Breakfast at the hotel and visit of the archeological sites of Aldea de Tulor and Pukara de Quitor fortress.
We will then have lunch in San Pedro before our guide takes us for a Sunset shoot in Salar de Tara. Tara is probably one of the most epic locations you will ever photograph. Located at 4850 meters, the area is difficult to reach without experienced guides. You will photograph the incredible rock formations called the Cathedral of Tara and the surrounding lagoon.
Again, this location being quite far from San Pedro we will have a simple dinner en route. Night in San Pedro

Day 7

After breakfast at our hotel, our guide takes us to the Chilean immigration to get your passport stamped to cross the border into Bolivia. The driver takes us then to the border crossing at Hito Cajon where we will file into a small office and get our Bolivian visa. While we say goodbye to our Chilean guide and meet with the Bolivian team who will take care of us from here (Chilean are not allowed to work in Bolivia). We will then depart with our 4×4 vehicules on dusty tracks as our drivers take us close to the Uyuni salt flats. After a long day on the road we will stop to photograph the sunset at the Coral Army.

Day 8

After a sunrise shoot at the Coral Army, we will head back to the hotel for breakfast. We will then drive to Colchani and head to the Salt flat for sunset and reflections shots.

Day 9

We photograph the sunrise in the salt flats. After breakfast, we drive south along multi-colored, high-altitude deserts surrounded by volcanoes, lava flows and herds of wild vicuna. We will arrive at Laguna Colorada in the late afternoon and head to the peninsula where the best viewing options are for pink flamingos which live, breed and call this red lagoon home. The Red Lagoon is one of the prime locations for photography of the southwestern Bolivia and the place is so unique that it isn’t hard to get a pleasing image.

Day 10

Early wake-up in order to reach the Red Lagoon on time for sunrise. We will have breakfast on site after our morning shoot.
Today we will have plenty of time to stop and take pictures along the way of volcanoes and incredible landscapes and have lunch en route. The highlights of the day will be the Sol the la Manana Geyser at 5000 meters where you will see what a martian landscape may look like, the Dali desert form a distance and the Laguna Verde which lies below the Licancabur Volcano.
Our Bolivian guides will take us to the border for exit formalities. We will then go back to San Pedro for dinner.

Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Calama and flight to Santiago. End of Service.

Difficulty level: Easy to moderate and slightly challenging due to the altitude but the trip is designed in order to acclimatize gradually to the elevation.

This is a high-altitude region (average road height is about 14,000 ft, with passes over 16,000 ft!) and tends to be cold and windy so be prepared for those conditions. Bring warm clothes so that the weather conditions don’t ruin your photographic experience.
